"IF YOU WANT A VISION OF THE FUTURE, IMAGINE CRAP 808 SAMPLES STAMPING ON A HUMAN FACE- FOREVER"

Forthcoming on Numbers
Slick movements from Grime Tapes head honcho Slackk, a Liverpool born bass troubadour with the spirit of London burning within. The recipient of a hyperbole-laden showcasing from Fact Magazine earlier this year, Slackk’s dubs are split half and half between rowdy, syncopated Grime refixes and syrupy sweet deep house. Given my inclinations towards rough n ready instrumentals, its a given that I’m drawn to the former; and I’m not alone. Zeroed in on by Jackmaster for a piece of Numbers wax, three of Slackk’s best Grime x Funky love-ins have been handpicked for what should be a high profile opening salvo. Surefire highlight Fireflies rips the alien tics and space age synths from Wiley’s Firefly, replacing the rhythmic trickery of the original with rocket propelled Funky drums and some undeniable forward momentum. Londoners would do well to catch the man at The Alibi for Wifey 3 this Friday, especially considering the line up he completes: Effortless anthem creator Hardhouse Banton, outrageously good Grime producer Spooky and perhaps THE best DJ in UK Funky, Petchy. To go alongside his appearance and demonstrate his unique eski-house styling, Slackk laid out an extremely good set for Wifey’s mixtape series. Cop that >here<
