"IF YOU WANT A VISION OF THE FUTURE, IMAGINE CRAP 808 SAMPLES STAMPING ON A HUMAN FACE- FOREVER"

Roska & Untold // Myth
The original and best midweek pressure test is back for another installment this week, with none other than Hemlock bossman and bass pioneer Untold in the headline slot. The man probably needs no introduction at this point, and if you caught him at Crazylegs insane Hessle Audio party you’re probably on board with the dude from here on out anyway. Having effortlessly switched between ruff, jungle-tinged rowdiness, skeletal Garage austerity and uber functional eski beat upgrades in the past, Dunning’s latest iteration is an amazing absorption of all his previous tropes and more. The bumpy riddims of early material, the razor sharp percussion Sweat and the playfulness of the “Gonna Work Out Fine” EP’s grime influences all coalesce for Untold’s housier material. Dizzying grooves and, of course, those ridiculous bass drops. Look no further than recent Roska collaboration Myth/Long Range and ”Future Bass” highlight Fly Girls for a taster; helpfully both are showcased on our radio show last week, available just below this post.
Mensah // Pulse 80’s
Support on the night lies in the very capable hands of HENCH’s Mensah, a man admirably courting all sides of the bass spectrum with ease. Be it Swamp 81 esque 808 work, Grime tinged G-Funk or even aggy, white noise wobble, Mensah’s got it covered. Joining him will be Gorgon Sound, who provided one of the hypest residents sets I’d seen in a while at Sureskank a couple of months ago: Relentlessly ‘floor-smashing Grime instrumentals making the end of the night seem like peak time.
