One of the highlights of this year’s Red Bull Music Academy online coverage was an endlessly fascinating two hours spent with one of contemporary music’s pioneers, Steve Reich - >you can still watch the video here<.

Rather excellently, this week he’s the subject of BBC Radio 3’s Composer Of The Week programme, with the first of five episodes broadcast today, and the rest to follow over the next four days. Today’s edition focuses on his upbringing and early influences, with the rest of the week stretching out across his whole career. Well worth tuning into, then, and a snapshot of one of the 20th century’s most significant composers.
