MIX // PEVERELIST ‘MIX FOR JAPAN’

Stream/Download Peverelist ‘Mix For Japan’

There’s no hiding our love for Peverelist; and with output as consistent as his, why would we? Equally at home solidifying soundsystem roots or boldly pushing forward into the future, Pev’s productions are the sound of a man who takes inspiration from all around him. And of course, its only natural that the man is a master selector to boot. Indeed, having previously headed up the mighty Rooted Records can’t have hurt his all encompassing attitude to electronic music. This year has already seen landmark mixes hit both the Fact and Resident Advisor podcast series- no mean feat- and with far too little ceremony did this lil nugget appear ahead of a slot at Tokyo’s Unit. Unusually for a DJ whose complete absorption in junglist tropes informs everything from his sets to his name, this mix spends most of its time firmly on four to the floor. Perhaps a slight indication of the direction the city is moving in? We’ve got more on Bristol’s burgeoning techno scene later on this week, but for now enjoy this bad boy. No tracklisting, as per usual, but those on the pulse might recognise a few: a rugged Funky cut from Scratcha DVA’s latest Hyperdub 12”, Pangaea’s competition beating take on Commix’s How You Gonna Feel (the clear highlight of Re:Call To Mind for my money) and of course a healthy dose of Peverelist’s own 2010 productions.
