Fittingly, this one arrived the same day Wut got released: and it seems to make sense to follow up our Girl Unit review with a little context, given the whole 12” is essentially a displaced set of dirty south beats. It would be pretty great if these kind of instrumentals became the UK bass music flirtation du jour.. Hey, ya never know! “Hip Hop fans in Europe somewhat disliked No Limit back in the mid to late 90s when the label was on full steam, possibly because of the now legendary Pen & Pixel album artwork and because, to be fair, they did put out a lot of trashy music, too. Around 1998, Master P seemed to sign every street hustler in the bayou to his label, and to be honest, quite a lot of them were wack. But amongst all the trash, he did have some of the best MCs of that era on his roster. Fiend, Mystikal, Mac, Mia X all where lyrically on point and most definitely entertaining as hell. All of them were recording with legendary New Orleans producer KLC long before Master P signed the whole crew and made them the backbone of his artist roster.”
