NEW RELEASE // SUMMER OF SHORTSTUFF

Stream “Summer Of Shortstuff” (via Fact Magazine)

Perennial Always Everything favourite and Blunted Robots CEO Shortstuff finally drops a much anticipated 10” trifecta through the increasingly productive Ramp Records; and thanks to the ever excellent Fact Magazine all seven tracks are available to stream ahead of the “Summer of Shortstuff”: for everybody else, that’s the month of August.

Whilst Shortstuff has mostly been busy ensuring Blunted Robots output continues to set benchmarks for nutty 135bpm business, he’s had time to follow up on superb 2009 plates (the amazing Ramp debut “A Rustling” acting as my introduction to the man) with some top notch collaborations: most notably with long term partner in crime Brackles (unfairly) losing hype time with a sexy, understated flip to Bok Bok’s Citizen’s Dub, infiltrating Peverelist’s Bristol only Punch Drunk label using Hyetal for cover and on the ri-dic-u-lous big beat turned funky badness of his Blunted Robots slab with mystery man Mickey Pearce. Despite the high quality of all three, its nice to get another solo outting at long last; pure, undistilled, manic goodness. Whilst his productions share some slight similarities with Hessle Audio’s pitch(ed) perfect approach to rhythm, Shortstuff pulls in all sorts of cheeky, grime-tinged cartoon swagger to inject his beats with heaps of character. Galaxy and Swine Time have made the rounds in Blunted Robots related mixes and sound as futuristic as ever, furrowing the middle ground between house and dubstep bpms for all its worth. Grab em all next month.
