Casa Del Peunte Discos

It’d be a massive understatement to say René Pawlowitz’s career thus far has been illustrious. Whether its the amazing run of Shed 12”s culminating in the excellent “Shedding The Past” album on Ostgut Ton, or the dancefloor-ready immediacy of white label Wax and Equalized series, the man has a burning vitality many of his peers lack. Perhaps its a result of open mindedness, with Shed sets fully embracing all kinds of unconventional dancefloor modes and sounds, the dubstep matrix happily absorbed into his Detroit themed techno vision. Perhaps coming up through all kinds of different dance scenes- be they jungle or even gabber- gives Pawlowitz a unique perspective out of the grasp of most producers, confined as they are in their own niches.  Or perhaps there’s just some magic hoojoo juice these Berghain guys take on the full moon, who can say? One thing is for sure though: the man’s damn good. If in need of a primer, a recent interview on Fact does a great job of bringing together his past, present and future

I’ll have to admit knowing nothing about the label this remix arrives on, but if Casa Del Peunte Discos has put out even one other record has brilliant as this one they’re worth their weight in gold. Built around an unbelievably gorgeous, ethereal vocal sample, Shed twists Altocamet’s original track into a shimmering sunrise. Endlessly filtering Detroit synth pads and a loose Digital Mystikz rhythm join the track and.. That’s it. One of those pieces of music that is so more than the sum of its parts, its simplicity is hidden by a day dreaming stare into the middle distance. Its testament to its utter beauty that it never becomes tiring despite the repetition. Anybody who has heard the incredible Peverelist Fact mix will have absorbed this one already, but there’s little chance they will have known what it was with the characteristic absence of a tracklisting, so here it is: snap it up.
